WARRINGTON Borough Council has issued an apology after an overflow car park gate at Walton Gardens was closed in error causing parking issues for visitors.

As a result people arriving at the car park on Thursday afternoon during the school holidays, had difficulty parking – with many resorting to parking on land at the beighbouring crematorium.
Others were seen to turn away when unable to park.
After being made ware of the problem by Warrington Worldwide a Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “”The overflow gate was opened this morning as normal.
“It appears that the gate was closed in error by somebody who doesn’t work at Walton estate, which the team on-site weren’t made aware of.
“We will ensure the overflow gate is routinely checked in the coming days. We apologise for any inconvenience caused today.”
