Warrington lost out in top-of-the-table clash

WARRINGTON lost out in a top-of-the-table clash in division three of the Cheshire County League.

Hosting Heaton Mersey, they were asked to bat first and were dismissed for a disappointing 102, Ashley Scholes top scoring with 24 and only three batters reaching double figures.
The visitors coasted to victory for the loss of just three wickets.
As a result, Heaton Mersey top the table with 113 points and Warrington occupy second place with 107.

In division one, Grappenhall’s dismal form continued as they were tumbled out for 57 at home to Davenham, who then hit off the runs for the loss of three wickets, all of which fell to A Ashish. Only two Grappenhall batsmen reached double figures and the result left the team bottom of the table with just 22 points.
The defeat – heaviest of the season so far – is particularly disappointing as Davenham are second bottom in the table, with 53 points
It’s a bit early in the season to be talking relegation, but the signs are not looking good.

In the Cheshire Cricket League, division one, Lymm Oughtrington Park picked up an excellent win at Wilmslow where they batted first and hit 246-9.
Opener Antonnel Atwell top scored with 67, but there were useful innings from Kishan Megharaj, 34, Andy Brown, 28, and skipper Shovan Chatterjee, 39 not out.
Wilmslow were all out for 151 with Anthony Spaven taking 3-40 and Atwell 3-16.
Appleton went down by 51 runs at home to Malpas
The visitors batted first and hit a daunting 257-9. Appleton fought well, with Martin Cooper, 49, Adam Pearson, 42 and Josh Hill 44, getting them off to a good start.
But after that wickets began to fall and the side were all out for 206.
Glazebury lost by 93 runs at Knutsford.
The home side hit 211-9, with Sean Caine the pick of the Glazebury bowlers with 3-20.
Glazebury replied with 118 all out, Anthony Meulman hitting 33 and Jack Warhurst 32.
