YOUR Housing has appealed to residents impacted by the devastating blaze which ripped through flats on Marsh House Lane to stay away from the premises while safety checks are carried out.
Some of those impacted by the fire late yesterday afternoon have been vocal on social media, complaining about safety issues following the blaze which broke out in a stairwell.
After hearing about the residents’ concerns over safety following the fire which resulted in 50 people being evacuated from the flats, Warrington Worldwide contacted Your Housing, who run the premises, for a comment.
A spokesperson for Your Housing said: “We would like to thank the emergency services for their rapid response to a fire at Rynet Court yesterday evening. All residents were safely evacuated and moved into nearby hotel accommodation. We’re asking residents to stay away from Rynet Court today to ensure their safety and to enable the police and fire service to carry out their investigations into the cause of the fire and make sure the building is safe for people to return.
“We believe that somebody has been arrested in relation to the fire but as this is a live police investigation, we don’t want to speculate further or shift our focus away from supporting our residents and those affected.”
It is understood that a 10-year-old boy has been arrested following the blaze and released on bail pending ongoing investigations.
