STUDENTS at Warrington’s Priestley College are celebrating after an eighth year of securing a 99 per cent pass rate in the A Levels.
Principal Mike Southworth said: “It has been an emotional day for everyone and one that has brought great rewards for the students.
“Our young people have been outstanding and, on behalf of myself and colleagues, I’d like to congratulate them for all their hard work and wish them well for their futures.”
In 40 A Level subjects students secured a perfect 100 per cent pass rate, while 17 per cent of grades were awarded at either A* or A.
A broad range of subjects secured the very best results including: Archaeology, Fine Art, Textiles, Biology, Dance, Electronics, English Literature and Language, English Literature, French, Further Maths, German, Graphics, Health and Social Care, History, Law, Maths, Media, Philosophy, Sociology and Spanish.
There were also some notable individual performances with seven students achieving at least three A* grades and 36 students achieving at least three A grades.
Students have progressed to many leading universities and specialist colleges including Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester, Liverpool, Warwick, York, Durham, Nottingham, London and LIPA.
Many had careers in mind with future jobs as varied as lawyers to marine biologists.
A Level success followed on from the BTEC results for Priestley students, which saw 100 per cent pass rates across a variety of subjects. In Sport all three of the BTEC pathways (Exercise Science, Sports Development and Performance and Excellence) achieved a 100 per cent pass rate with 17 students achieving top marks of D*.
A 100 per cent pass rate was also achieved on the Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma Public Services course and the same achievement was secured in BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music.
Students on the International Baccalaureate programmes also scored a 100 per cent pass rate to cap off a fine year of results.
Mr Southworth added: “As well as ensuring high achieving students achieve their full potential by getting the very best grades we are also very proud of our track record as an inclusive college where we work to ensure students who start their A Levels with us are given every opportunity to progress to the A2 year.”
