Lib Dems name election candidate

THE Liberal Democrats have chosen parish councillor Sandra Bradshaw to fight the forthcoming borough council by-election at Poulton North.
She has lived in Warrington all her life and has lived at Blackbrook for 35 years. She is married to Allan and has two sons, Michael and Colin and a daughter, Deborah.
The by-election, on November 17, arises from the sudden, tragic death of Cllr Colin Oliver.
Sandra has lived in Warrington all her life and has been a resident of Blackbrook for 35 years. She works as a team leader/supervisor at the University of Chester.
For the past 25 years she has been involved in volunteering with various groups and organisations such as Brook Acre Primary School as a classroom assistant, the after-school playscheme Wasp Club, Blackbrook Residents Association and the Estate Management Board as treasurer.
She was involved with the Granada Community Challenge which led to the Hawthorn Centre and became treasurer of the centre’s residents’ management committee. She is also heavily involved with the North East Warrington Credit Union and has been chairman for the last 10 years and a director for 17 years.
Sandra said: “I am delighted to have been chosen to stand for this seat. I have worked alongside my close friend Colin Oliver in the community and on the parish council where I am chairman of the finance committee.
“I have put myself forward to stand as a borough councillor because it would give me the opportunity to improve the quality of life for local residents and people in the wider borough.”
Cllr Ian Marks, leader of the Liberal Democrat group on the borough council, said: “We had two excellent candidates to choose from and either one would make a really good councillor at the Town Hall.
“Colin can never be replaced but local residents deserve the opportunity to elect another active Lib Dem councillor who shares his values.”
