A SECOND man has been arrested following the series of fires in the Bewsey area of Warrington in the early hours of Wednesday.
He is aged 23 and from the Warrington area.
Another man, aged 22 and also from Warrington, was arrested around midday on Wednesday in connection with the incident.
Both are now helping police with their enquiries.
The arrests follow a series of fires in the Bewsey area involving a golf shop and bar in Lovely Lane and wheelie bins behind a Co-op store in Lovely Lane and near a sun bed centre in Bewsey Road.
In one incident, two people had to be rescue by firefighters from a second floor window and in another, adjacent homes were evacuated for a short time.
Lovely Lane was closed to traffic all Wednesday morning while police and fire investigations continued.
Police are still appealing for anyone with any information in relation to the incidents or to anyone out and about in Bewsey on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning who may have seen anything of relevance to come forward.
Anyone who can help should contact Warrington CID on 0845 458 0000.
