Big welcome for road works

RESURFACING works on a Warrington road have been welcomed by local councillors.
Work on resurfacing Green Lane, Padgate, from Blackbrook Avenue to Woolston High, will start on August 15 and is expected to take eight weeks.
The project has been praised by borough councillors Colin Froggatt and Lottie Ladbury.
Cllr Froggatt said: “The new Labour administration knew that Green Lane was a top priority for people here, and that is why we have made sure this community gets the investment it deserves.
“The state of this road has been the top concern for people living in this area for years, and they’ve had to suffer from poor ‘patch up jobs’ and countless pot holes. That’s why these resurfacing works are great news for Poulton South.”
Work will be carried out between 9.15am and 3.15pm every weekday, and the road will be subject to closures during these times. To minimise disruption to residents, no works will be conducted during the weekends.
Diversions for motorists will be signposted.

  1. How these people have the nerve to try and make political capital on something like this is beyond me. The road has been left in a disgusting state for far too long and probably accounts for the majority of the thousands of pounds of repair costs to my cars steering and suspension that I’ve had over the past five years. If some people had been doing their job properly the road might have been resurfaced long ago.

  2. That’s the point – the road ought to have been surfaced years ago. However, the previous Coalition have spent lots on roads in Culcheth, Grappenhall and Lymm which I think makes this a very political matter, don’t you? Good work by the current administration in getting the work programmed after only a few weeks in office.

  3. I assume that road resurfacing is planned months in advance, that being the case it would have been organised under the previous administration, not the current Labour one who only took over in May. With regards to the picture, is the councillor kneeling down preparing to receive a knighthood.

  4. I was going to say the same thing! Apart from the recent resurfacing of parts of the top road (which has also actually taken place under Labour and is, after all, a major A road), I can’t remember the last time a road in Lymm was resurfaced or repaired properly. Oh, they did the cobble things in the village centre – but that was a good couple of years ago now and its starting to fall apart in places already.

  5. Nice to see that someone has taken over from Jo Grotty when it comes to pointing at things while having their photo taken….. Jo and the Lib Dums were masters at pointing at things like potholes, collapsed drains, dog poo etc….. unfortunately they only ever pointed at things and never actually fixed them!
