Wire cut Cables in two!

TWO quick fire goals in the opening 10 minutes were enough for

Warrington Town to see off manager Shaun Reid’s former club Prescot Cables 2-0 at the Abacus Solictors’

Community Stadium.
Reid’s nephew Michael Reid (pictured) opened the scoring after just two minutes as he cut through the Cables defence and let fly from 20 yards to bulge the back of the net.
When Ash Ruane fired home the second on 10 minutes many in the crowd were expecting an avalanche of goals following on from Saturday’s magnificent seven against Goole.
But it was not to be as the game became scrappy for long periods.
In the second period Prescot introduced former Warrington striker Jon Bathurst while Kevin Townson and Gratton came on for the home side.
Prescot keeper Andy Moor was kept busy by James McCarten who had two efforts impressively saved and also hit the cross bar 10 minutes from time.
Warrington Town’s next game is away from home on Saturday as they travel to Radcliffe Borough in a 3:00pm kick off. This is folllowed by a midweek trip to Ramsbottom United next Tuesday evening with a 7:45pm kick off.

Town: Robertson, Davies, Doran, Dogan (c), Flynn, McCarten, Mooney, Ruane,

Collins (Townson, 56), Porter (Gratton, 46), Reid, subs not used: McEvilly,

Miles, Anderson
