‘Recruitment blitz’ begins as consultancy wins major award – just 14 months after launching

AN AWARD-WINNING construction consultancy is embarking on a quantity surveyor “recruitment blitz” to help keep up with surging demand for its services.

Novo Consultants is seeking staff from across the UK, amid ambitious growth plans that founder Jason Palmer hopes will see the Warrington-based firm turnover £1m-a-month by the decade’s end.
Dubbed the ‘contractor’s consultant’, the business was crowned Quantity Surveyor of the Year at the National Building and Construction Awards at a ceremony in London in October.
Director Jason Palmer said the company’s growing portfolio reflects both client trust and the expertise of his team.
“It has been a phenomenal first full year for the business, and we’ve shattered even our most ambitious expectations,” said Jason.
“We’re seeing continued growth in complex and high-value projects, from work at Manchester Airport to Northumbria Water while we are increasingly seeing exciting developments in the nuclear sector.
“To meet that demand, we’re recruiting 20 new quantity surveyors over the next 12 months, and we are seeking candidates with experience working with a Tier 1, or large Tier 2 contractor, given the quality of our clients.
“These will be UK-wide roles, and it’s essential that our new team members are comfortable working from home, which is a key part of how we deliver for clients nationwide.”

Dubbed the “contractor’s consultancy”, Novo provides industry-leading expertise to projects in an array of different industries including construction, rail and renewables.
In recent months, the consultancy has made increasing headway into the fast-growing nuclear sector while the firm is also eyeing up defence as a key industry to move into in the coming years.
For Jason, a big part of his company’s success has been down to attracting, and developing, the right talent.
“At Novo, we really work hard to foster the right culture. Recently when a team member was ill, their colleagues completed the Three Peaks challenge to fundraise on their behalf,” he added.
“That is indicative of the sort of workplace we’ve created, and we are firmly committed to offering benefits like wellbeing allowances and time back to volunteer for charity, that are about bringing the best out of us all.
“And I think that winning Quantity Surveyors of the Year not only recognised the high quality of work we deliver daily, but also shows that we are firmly on the right track to grow as a business – and we are determined to build on that momentum.”
