VIDEO: WARRINGTON town centre was transported back to medieval times as vikings and knights mixed with shoppers outside the town’s market.
Highlights of the free event included Hemlock the dragon, a 16ft ride on attraction as well as medieval costume characters and a Viking long ship that was brought over from Derbyshire.
Also in appearance were the Fighting Knights of Failsworth, feathered birds of prey and other street theatre performances and medieval demonstrations as well as a wide variety of stalls displaying medieval and viking creations.
The event was organised by Warrington Market in conjunction with Trade of Thrones co-ordinator, local archaelogist and historian Mark Olly, who was on hand to take warrington-worldwide on a video tour of the event, which also included fantasy, goth and fairy themes!

Well Done Mark Olly! I’ve only just seen this article so sadly missed the event. I try to avoid going into town centre these days as I find the destruction (‘regeneration’) depressing but this would have been something worth going into town for!
