POLICE are investigating claims that a banned “Nazi terror group” has set up a training camp in Warrington.

The investigation follows a report by the Hope not Hate charitable trust which alleges the banned National Action group is actively recruiting and training from warehouse premises in Warrington, close to a primary school.

Hope not Hate inform and educate the public about organised hatred and extremism and strengthen and empower communities to find positive solutions to division.

They reveal the identity of the alleged Warrington based leader as a 33 year-old warehouse worker from Woolston, who they claim has been rebuilding the banned organisation, which was formed in 2011, away from the spotlight.

Hope not Hate state that despite not knowing the location of their “head office”, all remaining members of the 80 strong National Action are financially contributing to the £4560 per annum it costs to rent their “secret bunker”, as well as the cost of refurbishing and turning the warehouse into a gym with an office.

They say that according to sources inside NA and neighbours of the warehouse next to a primary school on an industrial estate, up to a dozen NA members from across the country regularly train there, using knives and baseball bats.

News of the alleged activities has been met with condemnation in Warrington.

Local councillor Josh Booth posted on twitter “What are these fascist scum doing in Warrington?”

Nick Taylor, Chief Executive of the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace said: “Warrington is a town of peace, home to the biggest civil society organisation in the country that counters violent extremism and the base for the international peace centre.

“Nearly 25-years-ago, nationalist terrorists, attacked our town killing Tim, Johnathan and Bronwen Vickers, injuring many others and in recent weeks our country has been subject to four terrorist attacks and we are leading calls across the nation for everybody to ‘stand together’ to defeat those who perpetrate violence.

“The allegations by the organisation Hope not Hate that a proscribed terrorist organisation is operating from the area, are very worrying and we urge the Police and authorities to act, as violence plays no part on our society. If anybody has any information about these people and their activities they should report it to the Police.”

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Cheshire Police are now aware of the article and an investigation will take place.”
