PEOPLE across Warrington are being invited to fast track their way into work following the launch of new skills bootcamps covering subjects from artificial intelligence and covert surveillance to railway construction and event safety.

Enterprise Cheshire + Warrington (formerly the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership) has secured £2.4m in government funding to create 640 places on Skills Bootcamps in 2024/25.
Employees and employers are urged to cast their eyes over more than 40 confirmed Skills Bootcamps which offer flexible training courses of up to 16 weeks.
The bootcamps cover diverse areas including heat pump installation, business management, fitness instruction, software development, artificial intelligence, covert surveillance, railway construction, event safety, business management, data analytics, scaffolding and 3D printing.

They are designed to help local employers recruit people with the skills they need or to upskill existing staff, as well as giving residents the chance to learn sector-specific skills and gain a guaranteed interview, or access new roles and opportunities with their current employer.
So far 43 bootcamps have been confirmed and four more are set to be ratified shortly.
The Skills Bootcamps are available for adults aged 19 and over, who either live or work in Cheshire and Warrington, and who have the right to work in the UK, and can be employed, self-employed or unemployed. They are free for all unemployed or self-employed people, but people in work will require a small contribution from their employer.
To date funding secured by Enterprise Cheshire + Warrington has allowed 619 people aged 19 or over to attend 34 Skills Bootcamps in a host of specialisms to reflect skills gaps and employer need.

Director of Skills and Education at Enterprise Cheshire and Warrington. Pat Jackson said: “The skills bootcamps are based on what employers tell us they require and are a great way to bridge identified skills gaps across the sub-region.
“Not only do they help employees climb the ladder and fast track their way into jobs, they help local businesses invest in their workforce. They play an important role in creating the healthiest, most sustainable, inclusive and growing economy in the UK here in Cheshire and Warrington.”
