Join in the “Bio-Blitz” at Paddington Meadows

THE New Cut Heritage and Ecology Group is holding a “Bio-Blitz” at Warrington’s Paddington Meadows on Saturday, July 13.
The day-long event, which follows a similar and highly successful one late last year, will offer an opportunity to take part in interesting surveys and learn just how much interesting wildlife there is on the New Cut Trail and Paddington Meadows.
There will be bird surveys, mammal and moth traps to inspect and record, insect and flora surveys, a bat walk and breaks for picnics and other refreshments.
Access to the various activities are mainly from Larkfield Avenue Gates and the refreshments will be at the picnic tables in Woolston Park South.

A number of experts will be on hand, including Tony Parker, deputy curator of Liverpool Museum and Cheshire Mammal Recorder, Jeff Gorse, of the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Steve Atkins, deputy bird recorder, Greater Manchester, Dave Winnard, of Discover the Wild, Harold Green and Mike Smith, of the Merseyside and West Lancs Bat Group, as well as volunteers from the New Cut Trail group.
