A NEW chapter has opened in the long history of a Grade 2 Listed farmhouse at Poulton-with-Fearnead with an imaginative application to Warrington planning chiefs.
Cinnamon Farm, in Cinnamon Lane is thought to be an early mid-18th century rebuilding of an earlier property on the same site.
It has stood unoccupied for a number of years and has suffered severe damage from arson and vandalism.
In November last year, planning consent was granted for a side extension and subdivision of the property into two dwellings to safeguard the building for the future.
Earlier proposals, withdrawn in 2022, had suggested six new properties on the site.
Now developers the Emerald Bay Group are seeking consent for five new dwellings – three of which would be bungalows – on either side of the farmhouse which would be restored in line with the plans approved last November.
Planning officers decided last year the restoration of the old farmhouse would do little harm to the significance of the Listed Building and the proposals would preserve its historic fabric.
Last year’s planning application drew objections from two nearby residents on the grounds it could lead to further proposals for the wider site.
Planning officers will now consider the new proposals.
