Labour’s Chris Vobe triumphs in by-election

LABOUR soared to a decisive victory in the parish council by-election at Peel Hall.
The ward – which forms part of Winwick Parish Council – is located geographically in the Poplars and Hulme borough council seat.
Labour’s  Chris Vobe was elected with just over 81 per cent of votes cast.
The result sets a new record, giving him the highest percentage vote share of any currently serving parish councillor in Warrington North.
After the result was declared, Cllr Vobe – who has previously served on the borough council and on Culcheth and Glazebury and Croft parish councils, said: “I am delighted that support for Labour in this part of Warrington North has increased.
“This election afforded the people of Warrington North the opportunity to send a strong message to the developers; to let them know in no uncertain terms that we’ll fight tooth and nail to protect Peel Hall as the last green space in this part of the town. They sent that message loud and clear.
“I am extremely grateful to those residents who offered me their support today. I will work hard for the community and make sure their interests are represented.”
Cllr Vobe also paid tribute to former Poplars and Hulme councillor Steve Roberts, who died a year ago this week, and who represented the Peel Hall ward on the parish council at the time of his death.
He said: “It is a fitting tribute to my friend Steve Roberts that the area he represented and loved deeply has returned such a strong result for our party.”
Turnout was just shy of 15 per cent – a slight increase on the recent parish council by-election in Stockton Heath.
The results in full were: Chris Vobe (Lab) – 151; Simon Nolan (Cons) 21; Carl Foulkes (UKIP) – 13.
There were no spoilt ballot papers.

  1. Chris Vobe is a Momentum Trojan Horse who will cause chaos where ever he goes. Nasty piece of work
I hope the residents know what they’re voting for.
