MEMBERS of the public are in for a treat at Warrington’s Museum of Policing open day this year.
The open day will be held at Arpley Street Police Station in Warrington on Saturday September 10.
The event, which is open from 10am to 4pm, will give visitors the opportunity to meet local officers and find out more about policing in the Warrington and Cheshire area.
Visitors will be able to take a tour of the museum and discover what it was like to be behind bars, back in the Victorian era.
There will be a whole host of policing artefacts to see, including handcuffs and shackles, murder weapons and police equipment. There will also be host of police vehicles on display.
Sergeant Rob Horton said: “The Museum of Policing open day allows the public to see how policing has evolved over the years. It gives them the opportunity to meet local officers and pick up some crime prevention advice.
“There will also be plenty of activities for children to get involved with, hopeful detectives will be able to solve clues around the museum, have their fingerprints taken and dress up in historic and present day uniforms.”
Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane said: “This is a great opportunity for members of the public to learn about the history of policing. I hope the public of Cheshire come along and see for themselves just how much policing has changed over the years.
“The Museum of Policing is run by a team of volunteers, who dedicate their free time to the Constabulary, for members of the public who would like to gain an insight to the history of policing. I would like to thank them for all their hard work not only for this event, but the dedication they give to the Museum of Policing all year round.”
The open day is free to attend and will be a fun, family day out.
