A man from the West Midlands has been sentenced for dangerous driving on the M6 near Lymm.
Ideel Shad from Lancaster Road, Brierley Hill, appeared a Chester Crown Court on 11 August to be sentenced after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and driving with no insurance at an earlier hearing.
The 22-year-old was sentenced to ten months in prison suspended for 12 months.
At around 1.10pm on Friday 5 June a Roads and Crime policing officer attempted to stop a white BMW 4 series on the M6 northbound by going in front of the vehicle. Shad swerved back towards the main carriageway making off at speed swerving between lanes.
The officer then got behind the vehicle in pursuit but due to the speed and manner of driving in busy traffic the officer lost sight of the car.
As he approached junction 20 at Lymm Interchange, he saw the car had been involved in a collision with a lorry. Shad was still standing next to the car when police arrived.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including dangerous driving and driving without insurance. Shad said in response, “Do you see why I didn’t stop now?”
Sgt Andy Brett from the Roads and Crime Unit said: “Shad’s driving was reckless and dangerous. He put other road users and himself in harm’s way, the consequences of which don’t bear thinking about.
“To drive like that in busy traffic was idiotic and has resulted in this conviction. I hope he now realises that illegal actions have consequences.”
