WARRINGTON Town made it back-to-back wins to start the new season with a resounding 3-0 win over Hyde United.
Zayn Sadiq’s late goal rounded off a home victory that could have been won by more as the Yellows followed up their opening day win with another solid display.
Although they lost big striker Ewan Bange to a knock in the first half, his replacement Ben Elliott proved a handful.
There hadn’t been much in the game in the opening half an hour, as a bright start by the Yellows soon quietened down. Scott Butler put a free header in to the arms of Jordan Eastham and Lewis Earl hit a rising shot over the bar, while at the other end Ben Kershaw ought to have done better with a shot in space from the edge.
The game very much needed a goal when it came, and it was from an unlikely source in Butler, who saw his shot take a huge deflection to break the deadlock on 39 minutes.
Elliott had a couple of half chances at the end of the half, but the Yellows only had to wait until 10 minutes in to the second half to double their lead.
Elliott flicked on Sadiq’s ball and Daly reached behind him to bring the ball under control, and then fire a left foot shot through a surely disappointed Eastham.
That well and truly put the Yellows in control and Sadiq had a couple of openings down the left that the hosts couldn’t quite convert.
Eventually Vela released Sadiq through on goal and he lofted the ball over Eastham but agonisingly wide of the post.
But he got his goal in the final minute of the 90, Earl picking up a ball in midfield and gliding past a couple of players before releasing Sadiq on the left and he fired home.
The Yellows are back in action at home to Cleethorpes Town on Saturday.
