A 23-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with an assault on board a train at Warrington Bank Quay.

The arrest follows a CCTV appeal from British Transport Police relating to an incident on board a train at Warrington Bank Quay railway station on Saturday 1 August.

At around 11.25pm on Saturday 1 August, a man was travelling on a train from Manchester Piccadilly towards Chester.
As the service arrived at Warrington Bank Quay railway station, it is alleged that a woman who had been travelling on the same train struck him in the face with a sharp object. He sustained a serious injury to his eye.
The woman exited the train immediately after the attack.

British Transport Police say the woman has since been arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.
