Firefighters tackle arson blaze on river bank

ARSONISTS are believed to have started a fire on the banks of the River Mersey at Warrington, last night.

The incident was near Riverside Close, Warrington. Firefighters used hand extinguishers to put out the fire, which involved rubbish, and damp the area down.

It is believed the fire was started deliberately. Anyone with any information is urged to call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or Cheshire Police on 101.

In another incident firefighters attended a car fire in Norman Street, Warrington late last night.

The fire involved the engine compartment of a car. Firefighters, one wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put out the fire and cool the area down.
