Dubliners come to Warrington

FOUR members of Irish folk group The Dubliners are coming to Warrington’s Parr Hall for one special night on Sunday, June 2.
They recently celebrated 50 glorious years in music with a sell-out tour including a show at the Royal Albert Hall, and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Sadly, founding member ‘Banjo’ Barney McKenna recently passed away, but as he said himself ‘it’s too late to stop now’, and the spirit of his beloved band is being kept alive by Sean Cannon, Eamonn Campbell, Patsy Watchorn, and banjo virtuoso Gerry O’Connor, under the banner ‘The Dublin Legends’.
They had been due to play at the Parr Hall back in February, but were forced to postpone due to Campbell requiring an urgent medical operation.
Continuing the legacy started in 1962, the group will be playing the classic songs and ballads known the world over. Expect all the old favourites including ‘The Irish Rover’, ‘Seven Drunken Nights’, ‘Dirty Old Town’, and ‘Whiskey in the Jar’.
Tickets are priced at £20. Call 01925 442345.
