WARRINGTON lost by three runs after a nail-biting finish to their game at Ashton on Mersey.
Winning the toss, they asked the home side to bat first and then toiled in the sun while they compiled a challenging 274-6.
They used six bowlers, the most successful of which was Charlie Jones with 2-47.
After tea, Warrington looked well set at 145-2. Tom Higham top-scored with 68 and several other batters contributed useful knocks.
But with skipper Harley Barrett absent they were all out for 271 in the 49th over.

Warrington 3rd lost by 92 runs at Macclesfield and Warrintyon 4th beat Glazebury 2nd by six wickets.
Grappenhall picked up a welcome 44-run victory at Christleton after being put in.
There were useful contributions from several batters, with Jason Batson top-scoring with 52 as Grappers reached 227-9 in 50 overs.
The home side never looked like reaching their target as wickets kept falling, with seven bowlers sharing the spoils.
At the close, Christleton were all out for 183.
Grappenhall 2nd coasted to a comfortable victory over Upton at Broad Lane.

The visitors were bowled out for 161, Vikram Pearce taking 4-52. Lymm replied with 164-6, Zia Moinuddin top-scoring with a patient 44 not out.
Lymm 2nd went down by four wickets at Timperley despite opener Gary Parson hitting a superb 106.
Appleton, currently sitting at the top of their league, won by 62 runs hosting Trafford Metrovics.
