School children across Warrington are being given the chance to design the new Warrington Town away kit for the 2027/28 season.
More than 30 primary schools from across the town have already opted in and received their kit design competition packs, which includes some interesting facts about the club and a blank template for them to get creative.
Every child who enters the kit design competition will win a ticket for them and an adult to a specified home fixture in the New Year to give them the chance to experience live football in their hometown.
The winning design will be used as Warrington Town’s official away kit for the 2027/28 and 2028/29 seasons and be available to purchase online and from the Club Shop when it is launched next summer.
Whoever designs the winning shirt will receive the first produced shirt in their size to keep, a framed shirt to display in their school, two season tickets for the 2027/28 season and a small gift for all members of their class.
While the home kit will naturally always be yellow, the away kit gives the chance for artistic licence and so the only restriction given to the children was that it couldn’t be predominantly yellow or black (to avoid a clash with the match officials).
In recent years, the club has used a throwback claret and blue quarter away shirt to mark 75 years since its foundation, while the current navy blue away shirt with golden gates patterning on the sleeves has been extremely well received by the club’s fans and beyond, being the most sold away shirt in the club’s history, and receiving acclaim from several popular social media and football culture outlets.
James Gordon, Commercial & Media Director at Warrington Town, said: “I went in to a couple of schools at the end of the last school year after being asked to go in to talk about the club and its history in the local area. So that got me thinking about ways we could engage a bit further, and that’s where the kit design competition came up.
“We have a great relationship with our teamwear partners Capelli, and they have assured me that they can produce whatever the kids come up with!
“We reached out to all of the local primary schools and have been delighted by the response. All schools received a pack that included some facts about the club that will hopefully help them to introduce children and tell them a bit more about us.
“Already at Saturday’s game I was made aware of a parent and child who after receiving the pack from their school, had come along to see a live match and experience Warrington Town in person to help provide some inspiration and get their design juices flowing!”
Children have until November 27th to get their designs in, after which a panel including the club chairman, manager and teamwear partners Capelli will judge and come up with a shortlist before deciding on the eventual winner.
