WARRINGTON Borough Council has launched a governance review that could lead to changes to the way Culcheth and Glazebury are represented at a parish level.
Residents, businesses, community groups and other interested organisations are being encouraged to take part in a public consultation to help shape the future of local governance in Culcheth and Glazebury.
The Community Governance Review will examine whether the existing arrangements continue to reflect the identity, interests and needs of the local community.
A public survey has now been launched, with responses invited until Monday, November 30, 2026.
The questionnaire takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and asks people about their sense of local identity, their views on the current arrangements and how they believe the community should be represented in the future.
Several potential options are being explored, ranging from retaining the existing arrangements to introducing separate parish arrangements, changing electoral arrangements or dissolving the parish council.
The review gives residents an opportunity to express their views on how Culcheth and Glazebury should be governed at parish level in the years ahead.
What could change?
A Community Governance Review allows Warrington Borough Council to consider a range of changes to local governance arrangements.
These can include altering parish boundaries, creating new parishes, merging or dividing existing parishes, establishing or dissolving parish councils, and changing electoral arrangements.
The review can also consider alternative parish styles, where appropriate.
However, the process is not intended to examine the day-to-day running of Culcheth & Glazebury Parish Council.
Issues such as council policies, committee structures, staffing, financial regulations, budgets, spending decisions and the conduct of individual councillors fall outside the scope of this particular review.
Residents encouraged to participate
Feedback gathered through the consultation will help inform the review and support decisions about the future structure of community governance in Culcheth and Glazebury.
The broough council is encouraging residents and organisations with an interest in the area to participate before the consultation closes.
The outcome could influence how the community is represented locally, making the consultation an opportunity for people to put forward their views before any decisions are made.
