Homes plan for Green Belt land at Lymm

PLANS have been submitted to Warrington Borough Council for a development of up to nine dwellings on a small Green Belt site at Lymm.

The proposal is at the far end of Pepper Street where it meets Sutch Lane, an attractive bridleway and where an application for a larger housing development was rejected by planners some time ago following opposition from local people concerned about additional traffic on Pepper Street – particularly at its “business end” where it meets the Cross.
This Is widely regarded as one of the busiest junctions in Lymm and particularly hazardous for pedestrians.
The new proposal seeks permission in principle and detailed matters, such as design, siting, size, highways, design and ecology would require a subsequent application in the event of approval.
Concerns remain about the existing weight of traffic on Pepper Street, particularly at “school run” times.
The site, part of which is already used as a dog exercising area, adjoins the Bridgewater Canal and includes a popular canal-side walk leading to Oughtrington Lane and beyond.
Applicant Mr Mohammad Waheed believes the small size of the scheme means it would not damage the openness of the Green Belt.
Planning chiefs are currently studying the proposals
