Yellows season ends in defeat at Morpeth

WARRINGTON Town’s season came to an end with a 2-0 defeat at Morpeth Town, whose win wasn’t enough to see them avoid relegation.

Although the home side did what they could thanks to two second half goals, results elsewhere meant it wasn’t enough to drag them out of the bottom three.

After a goalless first half, a goal of the season contender from Will Dowling broke the deadlock four minutes in to the second half, before JJ Hooper made sure of the points eight minutes from time.

The defeat meant Warrington finish 14th in the Northern Premier League, the lowest they have finished since winning the NPL Division 1 North title in 2016, ending the campaign on a run of seven games without a win.

Morpeth Town: Langley, Evans, Miller (Holvey), Myers, Henderson, Robson, Bone (Bollado), Chater (King), James, Dowling, Barlow (Hooper). Unused sub: Woods

Warrington Town: Isherwood, Melhado, Shaw (Lloyd), Gumbs, Bourne, Morris, Vela, Murphy, Daly (Thompson), Scanlon, Tweedley. Unused subs: Roper, Noone.
