Objections to Green Belt children’s home plan

NEARBY residents and councillors have objected to proposals to convert a Green Belt dwelling in Smithy Lane, Croft, Warrington into a home for four children.

Borough councillor Matt Smith is among the objectors but there have also been objections from 18 residents and from Croft Parish Council.
But planning officers are recommending the borough’s development management to approve the scheme.
They say the plan is acceptable in principle and there will be no unacceptable impact on the local highway network nor the amenity of adjacent residents.
The application is by Care 4 Every Child Ltd.
Objectors say he proposal represents unacceptable development in the Green Belt and the location unsuitable for a children’s home because of a lack of local facilities and services.
They argue it would not be a safe area for children because of traffic hazards, a history of collisions and near misses near the property, a lack of footpaths, and a shortage of passing places.
Increased traffic movements arising from the change of use would worsen the situation.
