OFFICERS investigating a serious collision involving a teenage cyclist in the Winwick Road area last night (Wednesday) are appealing to the public for information.
At around 6.25 pm on Wednesday, 9 September, officers in Warrington responded to reports of a serious collision in the Winwick Road area of the town.
It was reported that the collision occurred between a pedal cyclist and a BMW 218D. The cyclist, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to Salford Royal Hospital for treatment.
As part of enquiries to fully establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, investigating officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has access to any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in touch.
Sergeant Russell Sime, of the Roads and Crime Unit, said: “Enquiries remain ongoing in this investigation and, as they progress, we are asking anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision to please get in touch.
“The incident occurred at a busy time of day on a main route through Warrington, so there will have been plenty of motorists on the road at the time.
“With that in mind, I would encourage any drivers who were travelling along Winwick Road at around the time of the collision to please review any dashcam footage they may have to see if they have captured anything that could aid our investigation.
“We are also aware of a number of rumours circulating on social media, so I would like to remind everyone that this is a live investigation and to not feed into any speculation.”
