CAMPAIGNERS battling to save Woolston Hub have today announced that it has officially been listed as a Community Asset of Value.

It now means the community has the right to make a bid for the facility if it is put up for sale.

Group co-Chair Laura Bather said: “Our committee is pleased to announce that Warrington Borough Council has approved the nomination of Woolston Hub as an Asset of Community Value (ACV).
This successful nomination was made jointly by the Save Our Hub Committee and Woolston Parish Council, reflecting the strong community commitment to protecting and shaping the future of this vital local facility.
What this means:
The ACV status recognises Woolston Hub as a building of significant importance to the local community. It confirms that the Hub is not just a facility, but a valued community asset that contributes to the health, wellbeing, and social life of Woolston residents.
Key implications:
The Hub cannot be disposed of or sold without formal community notice.
The community has the right to bid if the asset is put up for sale.
A moratorium period may apply, giving time to explore community-led solutions.
It strengthens the case for a Community Asset Transfer (CAT) or partnership model.
It formally recognises the importance of Woolston Hub to local social wellbeing.

Laura added: “This is an important milestone, but not the end of the journey.
“We will continue working with residents, partners, Warrington Borough Council, and Woolston Parish Council to explore a sustainable future for Woolston Hub as a Community Wellbeing, Learning and Innovation Centre.
“We are now moving into a crucial phase where community involvement, partnerships, and practical planning will shape what comes next.
“If you would like to get involved, volunteer, or support the next stage of this work, please get in touch.”
“Together, we are building the future of Woolston Hub.
