A community fundraiser has been launched in support of Kacey May after the Birchwood motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a devastating road traffic collision.

Kacey, aged 21, spent 11 days in a critical care unit where she was in an induced coma for life-threatening injuries, where it was touch and go for the first 48 hours following the collision last April. She is still recovering in hospital.

Friends, family and members of the local biking community and two local pubs, have rallied together to raise funds for Kacey’s recovery after she was struck from behind while stationary on her motorcycle. The incident, which has shocked residents across Birchwood and the wider Warrington area, left her with life-changing injuries and facing a long road to rehabilitation.
Supporters say the fundraiser aims to help ease the financial pressure on Kacey and her family while she undergoes treatment and recovery. Donations will contribute towards medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, travel to appointments and day-to-day support during her recovery period.
Organisers led by her uncle, Frey and regulars at Porter’s Ale House and the Dog & Partridge, where she worked, described Kacey as a well-known and much-loved member of the local community, with many people already sharing messages of encouragement online.
One fundraiser organiser said: “Kacey’s life changed in an instant. She now faces months of recovery ahead, and we want to do everything we can to support her and her family during this incredibly difficult time.”
The campaign has also attracted support from fellow motorcyclists across Cheshire and beyond, with fundraising events and charity rides also being discussed to help boost donations.
A fundraisers takes place at Porter’s on June 20th, where local bands will also be performing. A raffle has also been organised.
Road safety campaigners have also used the incident to highlight the vulnerability of motorcyclists on UK roads and the importance of driver awareness, particularly at junctions and in slow-moving traffic.
As news of the crash spread, many local residents took to social media to offer messages of support, with several describing Kacey as “strong,” “kind-hearted,” and “a fighter.”
Anyone wishing to support the fundraiser, which has already raised over £2,500, is encouraged to donate online and share the campaign to help the family reach its target as Kacey continues her recovery.
