THREE sisters from Warrington who had never run before completed the London Marathon at the weekend, raising over £8,700 for the Alzheimer’s society in memory of their two grandmothers.

Hannah, Emily and Sarah Greenwood took on the massive marathon challenge to help raise essential money for Alzheimer’s Society!

Proud mum Liz Greenwood said: “Having never ran previously it was no mean feat !! But they did it. Bet there’s not many sisters have done that.
Alzheimer’s Society is a charity very close to their hearts. Their Nanna had dementia for a number of years before she sadly passed away in 2017 and their Grandma also suffered with problems with her memory before she passed away last year.
1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime
Prior to the run the girls said: “We have witnessed first-hand the challenges people with this cruel disease face and the heartbreak it causes for their family and friends. Dementia takes a loved one’s memories, independence and personality until they are unrecognisable as the person they once were.
“None of us are natural runners, so this will be a massive physical and mental challenge! However, it will be nothing in comparison to the daily struggles faced by those with dementia.”.
