A goal in the fourth minute of injury time against Morpeth Town was enough to secure a point from the last match of the 2024-25 season as Warrington Rylands drew 1-1 at The Hive Arena.

Over 600 people watched as George Waring’s 94th minute header hit the net from a corner after Neil Reynolds made changes to his team, disappointing the travelling Morpeth supporters.

George Waring heads home

Waring was lucky to still be playing after a two-handed push sent him head first through the advertising boards and the perimeter fence.
The Northumberland side believed they would be travelling home with all three points after Daniel Barlow scored in the 79th minute but The Blues attitude and resilience paid off. This determination and effort has been evident since ‘Reno’ took control of Rylands back in September of last year.
“That is us – we never know when we’re beaten,” he said.
After putting pen to paper with Rylands back in September of last year he quoted: “I know how much the fans mean to the football club and what I want to do is connect with them, and have the lads in the dressing room connect with them, hopefully I can put a smile on people’s faces with the way we are going to play.”
“The smiles were evident around the ground. Finishing 11th has been a great achievement considering Rylands were next to bottom in September. At one time they were pushing to reach the play-offs but “a couple of wobbles recently” diminished that hope, “we bounced back mentally and today, I thought we were exceptional.”
“To finish where we’ve finished is a credit to everyone connected with the club.”
