WARRINGTON Rylands succumbed to a goal from the last kick of the match after Worksop Town fought back to take a 3-3 draw at Sandy Lane.

From the kick-off Worksop immediately put pressure on Rylands and it took a point-blank save from Luke Pilling to prevent the first goal after 13 minutes. Unfortunately, following the resultant corner the referee deemed there to be a foul in the box and awarded The Tigers a penalty. Sadly, although Pilling dived to the correct side, he was not able to make one of his trademark penalty saves and Liam Hughes put the home side into the lead.

Worksop, sitting third in the league, believed they were going to control the match but hadn’t taken into consideration the determination and skill of Warrington’s squad. Rylands began to dominate and the ever-running Ben Hardcastle ran around several of the opposing players to beat Tommy Taylor for the equaliser.

The speed of Jake Burton, back after a long injury, took him past the defence where he latched on to a perfect through ball and put the ball into the net for the second.

Right on half-time Hardcastle went on another searing run and made a wonder shot to beat Taylor again, giving them a 1-3 lead as they went into the changing rooms.

The Blues continued to be in charge of this game and had chances to increase their lead. The Tigers struggled to get anywhere near the Ryland’s goal for most of the half but with just ten minutes left they threw caution to the wind and pressed forward. Their efforts were rewarded with an 81st minute goal from Aaron Martin.

The referee indicated 5 minutes injury time but Worksop still pushed and were awarded a corner. The ball was not cleared properly and on 90+7 minutes Luke Shiels found the equaliser.

Warrington Rylands face another tough challenge on Saturday 21 December when they travel to Ashton United who currently sit fifth in the league.
