A 23-year-old Warrington man who was caught with thousands of pounds worth of cannabis has received a suspended prison sentence.

When arrested and interviewed Harry Rodger claimed that he was a heavy user of the drug and bought it in bulk for his own use.

But Rodger of Lonsdale Close, Great Sankey, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply. In his basis of plea, he said he was dealing the drugs to friends and acquaintances for a small profit.

Iain Criddle, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court today (Tue) that police called at a house in Helmsley Close in Bewsey and Whitecross on December 9, 2022.

They searched the premises and found cannabis and cannabis resin in bags with a potential street value worth between £3,500 – £4,500. They also found electronic scales and £210 cash.

Judge Brian Cummings, KC, sentenced him to six months imprisonment suspended for 12 months. He also ordered him to carry out 15 days of rehabilitation activities and 80 hours of unpaid work.

Jeremy Rawson, defending, said that Rodger has no previous convictions and had pleaded guilty.
