Warrington celebrates inclusive MacIntyre magazine launch

THERE was a big event at the Old School Project in Fairfield, Warrington, to launch a new Macintyre community magazine.

This event was for people supported by Macintyre and for those involved in Shared Lives and Great Communities projects. They got to see the new magazine first. This MacIntyre magazine is special because it’s made for and by the community.

The event in Warrington was just one part of a series of events happening all over the country. These events were held to talk to people who get help from MacIntyre. Other places visited included Oxford, Bedford, Milton Keynes, and St Albans.

The Warrington event was a huge success. Many people came, and they were very excited. The team talked to more than 80 people in total. This helped them get ideas for making the magazine better.

The magazine has reporters from the North West region, like Rory Hutton, who likes to tell people about what’s happening in Warrington. Sarah Lawless and Lewis Barlow, who work on the Macintyre GreatCommunities Garden Project in Fairfield, like to teach others about growing plants and how it helps the community and nature. Jess is all about community projects and activities, like making a choir. William shares his experiences of living with a learning disability and is a big part of Great Communities, the Macintyre dancers, and a self-advocacy group. Sui-Ling, a reporter from Milton Keynes, also came to the Warrington event to meet other reporters.

At the event, several people shared their thoughts:

Rory Hutton said, “Being a Macintyre mag reporter makes me feel like I’m speaking for others. I love sharing news about Warrington. Working with Hannah at Warrington Worldwide on an article about my job journey inspired me to be a reporter.”

Paul Payne, the co-editor, said, “The day was really inspiring. We got many ideas for the magazine and met lots of interested people. Seeing reporters like Will, Sarah, Lewis, Rory, and Jess show their pride in the magazine was great.”

Naomi Taylor, who went to the launch, said, “I liked the mag launch at the Old School. The magazine is good and easy to read. I enjoyed it so much that I’m now going to write about my love for poetry in it.”
