Objections to plan for 108 homes and medical centre on Green Belt land

MORE than 90 objections have been received to a plan to build 108 homes and a medical centre on Green Belt land at Lymm.

These include objections from Lymm Parish Council and borough councillors Ian Marks and Graham Gowland.

But officers will recommend that the application by Belway Homes should be approved when it comes before Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee on Thursday this week.

They argue that including a medical centre – currently an outline proposal – represents a very special reason for the development in the Green Belt.
The proposal involves the demolition of a property in Rushgreen Road to make way for the medical centre.
Cllr Marks has pointed out that although the 4.35 hectare site is identified for removal from the Green Belt in the Warrington Local Plan, the Local Plan itself has not been approved.
Objections from residents and others include road safety issues arising from increased traffic on Rushgreen Road.

There are also objections to the siting of three-storey homes adjacent to the Bridgewater Canal which, it is claimed, will have a major impact on the openness of the Green Belt.
The proposals are for detached, semi-detached and terraced houses and the three-storey apartment block.
A total of 32 “affordable homes” are proposed in the development.
Objectors say also the inclusion of a medical centre in the scheme is welcome, it will itself be an additional cause of increased traffic using the narrow Rushgreen Road.
They also argue that the main access route to the development, Woodyatt Way, is too narrow but the amount of traffic the development will attract.
