How to upgrade your kitchen

0

There are so many ways that you can improve your kitchen, but you need to consider whether you want to spend a lot of money or not.

Great amounts of money can be easily spent on transforming a kitchen which is said to be the most important room in the house if you’re selling your home. But, you can also just upgrade the kitchen you have with a few simple, easy and cost-effective tricks such as installing Kitchen Splashbacks.

Paint the Doors

To transform the look of your kitchen without replacing anything, you should start by painting the kitchen cupboard doors. As most kitchen walls have neutral colours, it’s easy to pick a colour for your kitchen that can either be striking, like navy or dark brown, or more subtle colours such as pale grey and light blue.

Make sure you prime them first and choose a colour that is durable as kitchen cabinets can take a real punishing if you have children and the last thing you want is chips in the paint before they are a week old!

Replace the Worktop

Another simple and effective way to upgrade the kitchen is by changing the worktops. This can dramatically change the look and feel of the kitchen as you could have a high gloss worktop for a modern finish or a wooden top for that more classic look. Adding a built-in draining board or a permanent pan stand are also easy ways to help with day to day life in the kitchen.

Change the Floor

Even if you choose not to change anything about the colour of the kitchen, or the worktop, one thing you must do when upgrading a kitchen is to change the floor. This is because the floor can lift the feel of any room and an old, tired-looking tiled floor is never going to look as smart as Engineered Wood Flooring for example or look as modern and fresh.

Feature It

If you have always wanted a funky looking kitchen, then considering a feature wall covered in wallpaper is a must. This is because you could choose a pale coloured kitchen with subtle floors, then have a really striking feature wall which would enhance any kitchen. Just make sure the wallpaper is designed especially for kitchens so that it is steam and heat resistant.

Can You Handle It

There is little point updating the kitchen doors if you are then going to let them down with old, scratched kitchen handles. By changing the door knobs, you will lift the whole room as there are so many designs on the market currently that are made for this such as leather or brass handles which instantly transform doors.

New Fabrics

It is so cheap to replace cushions and blinds these days that any kitchen can benefit from a change of accessories. All the high street shops have great on trend, tablecloths, fabrics and tea towels which can make old furniture and accessories look brand new.

With a bit of planning and some shopping about, you can easily upgrade your kitchen from being a shabby, dated one to a fresh and funky one. Invest in a few key pieces such as good flooring, and you will find the kitchen is the room your family most want to be in.
