Help for those suffering from trauma, pain and addiction

ENCOUNTER Hope – a 12-step recovery process for people to recover from traumas, pains and addictions – is holding weekly meetings in Culcheth.
The meetings are held at Culcheth Christian Fellowship, in Hob Hey Lane, and run continuously throughout the year, so that people can join at any time.
A spokesperson for the group said: “The recovery process is based on Biblical principles as we come to accept God’s help to overcome our problems.
“Through the process, we gain a spiritual freedom that replaces our pain and conflicts with peace, satisfaction and a strong personal relationship with God and others.”
Confidentiality is paramount in the ethos of Encounter Hope and the small groups are a safe place to share with complete confidentiality, led by someone who understands the process.
A member of the group said: “My name is Edward. I am a recovering alcoholic. I have been going to Encounter Hope since it started in October 2016.  I came to the meetings full of shame, guilt and loneliness. My life was broken and I had destroyed all of my relationships with others.
“ I was so unhappy.  I started to share my problems and issues.  I quickly got myself a sponsor and started on my journey of recovery.  I attended every week and slowly through the group time, and regular meetings with my sponsor, I started to sort out my life.  I stopped drinking and have been clean for five months.  Once I was drink free I started to deal with my issues and began to mend the relationships I had broken.  My life has gone from strength to strength.  I have gone back to work, made good friendships, and I know I have a place I can always turn to when difficulties arise in my life.
“Encounter Hope has given me the ability to get my life back on track with Christ, who is firmly rooted at the centre of my recovery.  I cannot thank Encounter Hope enough for helping me overcome my addictions and issues.  My life has changed for the good.  I am gaining a spiritual freedom that is replacing my pain and conflicts plus a strong personal relationship with God and Jesus.”
