“Ask Ollie” – for special education help

YOUNG people have helped design an innovative new website to help support families in Warrington.
Ask Ollie is the website for Warrington’s “Local Offer” and provides parents and carers of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and young people with any disability or specific educational need with a wealth of information and support services.
The website is easy to use and provides up to date, useful information including a directory of local and national SEN services, fun activities, support groups and latest news both local and national.
It was co-produced by the council, young people with SEN from Oi Listen, a part of the charity Speak Up, parents, carers from Warrington Parent and Carers (WARPAC) and SEN professionals.
The site has been live on a trial basis since June and a ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official launch at the Gateway.
Young people from Oi Listen, who provide advocacy support to disabled young people in Warrington from the age of 16 to 25, representatives from the council, including the Mayor, Cllr Geoff Settle and Cllr Jean Carter, lead member for children and young people, and organisations that provide help and support joined the event.
Cllr Carter said: “We are pleased to announce the launch of Warrington’s new local offer website, which is the place to find support and services and much more for anyone with Special Educational Needs.
“We have already had some good feedback about the website and we know that people are benefitting from finding out what help and fun activities are available
“Ask Ollie has everything people need to know about Warrington’s local offer all in one place and you can sign up to regular email alerts about interesting topics, all you have to do is register online.”
