Councillor demands halt to tipping

A WARRINGTON councillor is calling for urgent action to halt tipping which she claims is causing a safety hazard close to houses.
Cllr Maureen McLaughlin says the site, at the rear of Marbury Street, Latchford is unsightly and unsafe – particularly in view of the number of children who live in the area.
She said: “I have asked the council to take immediate action to make this land safe and to ensure that any work that takes place is suitable for this location and for the local residents.”
The land changed ownership last winter and residents were hoping it would be cleaned up as it had been attracting fly-tippers.
But large amounts of rubble and debris have appeared at the north end of the site and fencing has come down, making the area unsafe.
A tipper truck has been seen dumping on the site and there has been weekends of disruption caused by heavy diggers.
Cllr McLaughlin said: “I have been working with council officers for several months now to ensure this landowner acts responsibly and within the law, but this latest tipping is the last straw.
“With so many children in the area the land is not safe – it’s not fenced off and there is a large mound of earth very close to the boundary with the railway line.
“Apart from that, it’s unsightly to have what is effectively a tip at the back of people’s houses.
“I have asked for immediate action to make this land safe, and to ensure that any work that takes place is suitable for this location and for the local residents.”

  1. And what about our swing at causeway park?????? This councillor has done nothing about that. It has been removed for well over 12 months can you please answer will it or not be returning?? My children ask every time we visit the park when will it come back. This swing was installed part of a funding package and should be reinstated! The chdren of the park would love to see its return.

  2. Why is this councillor wearing an I.D badge on the OUTSIDE of her rain coat? Is it so everybody is left in no doubt that she is a Very Important Person? Another one looking for a quick photo opportunity! And what’s all this about her making demands of the council? Thought it was her lot running the thing……?

  3. As Silver writes go and see her at hersurgery and put you comments to her face to face.
