WARRINGTON’S Crosfield Girls Football team are back home after a visit to German twin town Hilden during they which they took part in a seven-a-side tournament against local teams.
The standard of football was good and one Crosfields team came second and the other fourth.
Manager Colin Osbourne said: “The two teams did us proud. There was plenty of focus on the girls, with the press interviewing them and taking pictures which were published in a national paper.”
The party were invited by Hilden Mayor Horst Thiele to an official reception at the Town Hall, where they were presented with an engraved plate.
The girls were treated to a visit to Düsseldorf where they were taken up the TV Tower then given lunch in one of the oldest pubs in the old town.
Afterwards there was a river cruise on the Rhine and a meal in a Chinese restaurant.
Mr Osborne said: “We could not have been welcomed and looked after any better and a good time was had by all.
“The girls did themselves, me and the club proud.”
Next year, Crosfields hope to welcome a team from Hilden to Warrington.

Well done girls, you’ve acted as great ambassadors for Crosfields JFC and for Warrington.
Well done, Crosfields Girls. Nowhere better for girls to play football in Warrington.
