Wolves plan stadium expansion

WARRINGTON Wolves have unveiled exciting plans to increase the capacity of their Halliwell Jones Stadium in time for the start of next season!
The work involving new terracing and seating in the two corners of the Martin Dawes East Stand, will see the ground capcity increase from 13,000 to 15,000.
The club wants the new development to benefit the local community and is also urging local businesses to tender for the work.
The Stadium opened its doors eight years ago and has since become the template stadium for all other clubs and new stadia developments, having sport, health and education.
Warrington Wolves prides itself on the loyal fan base and the supporters have continued to put pressure on the club to expand the stadium by showing up week in, week out, increasing both Season Tickets and shirt sales year on year, and as a result plans for stadium expansion have been put into action ready for the start of the 2012 season.
The build cost is circa £2million and the investment will not only benefit the club but also the borough-wide community taking capacity of 13,000 to 15,000 widening the opportunities for use of the stadium. The town of Warrington has recently submitted its interest in bidding to host a number of Rugby League World Cup games in 2013 which in itself will provide a huge economic benefit to the town as a whole. This stadium development can only enhance The Halliwell Jones Stadium as a host venue.
The stadium build comes off the back of many other developments over the years both on and off the field. On-field success has been seen with recent back-to-back Challenge Cup wins as well as investment in new player and performance staff, and state-of-the-art training facilities for the first team and youth teams.
Off-field the club are involved in all aspects of the community developing the Foundation infrastructure already in place. Most recently with the demand high for executive facilities the 2010/11 off season saw the club develop additional corporate boxes within the main stand at the stadium of which there is now only one available for this current season.
The club wants to help the business community connected with the club to go from ‘strength to strength’ particularly in the present economic climate.
The club wants the new development to be of benefit to local businesses and as such businesses interested in tendering for work within this new build please contact club director Lance James, JLJ Engineering, 5 Harvey Court, Harvey Lane, Golborne, Warrington, WA3 3RX, call 01942 720 445, fax 01942 276876 or email [email protected]

The council didnt pay for the stadium in the first place – think you will find it was funded by Tesco.

AND yes loan was that was given to the club has been paid back in full.

The work Warrington Wolves do in the town is a credit to the club and the town its self sure the council have no regrest about lending the money it was the tright thing to do, lets not forget the counciul have done pretty well out of it to they now own the land Wilderspool sits on
