Students' basketball revolution

A BASKETBALL revolution is taking place at Warrington’s Priestley College.
Under the scrutiny of American coaching guru, Chris Donnelly from The Manchester Magic, the Priestley Pythons have qualified for a league play-off final and a cup semi-final.
Coach Donnelly joined the Priestley camp this season after an extensive career coaching at high school and university level in the fiercely competitive American sporting arena.
The Pythons have since gone on to qualify for the league play-off final with a victory over Runshaw and are also one step away from a cup final appearance following their latest emphatic win over Holy Cross.
Against Holy Cross; Samir Tahraoui (24 points), Jordan Bibby (22 points) and Rabah Tahraoui (14 points) led from the front as the Pythons finished up 83-51 winners to cement their ever increasing reputation.
Team manager Paul Hopper said: “Basketball is a fairly new sport at Priestley but has enjoyed a rise to prominence in recent years following our double winning team of last season. Since then we have become ever more professional and placed structures in place for a lasting legacy which we are now benefiting from.”
