Wolves' new watering hole

WARRINGTON Wolves have shown their green credentials after unveiling a unique water borehole which has been five years in the making costing £36,000.
The club now has its own water supply which can be accessed throughout the year to water the pitch.
This facility is particularly ideal during the summer months to help keep the pitch in the best condition.
A borehole is an environmentally friendly means of accessing naturally filtered water.
Warrington Business Venture provided a grant towards the cost of the water borehole project.
Sandra Brusby OBE, Managing Director of Business Venture said: “It was a great pleasure to be able to provide this grant and to see such an innovative project come to fruition. Business Venture prides itself on helping businesses be more efficient, effective and environmentally-friendly and I know this water borehole will certainly save the Wolves money. Hopefully it will contribute to the team’s continuing success on the pitch as well!”
Warrington Wolves Chief Executive Andy Gatcliffe said: “Yet again Warrington Wolves seeks to ‘lead the way’, not only from an environmental point of view, but also from a business operational cost benefit. The club’s water borehole fits in very well with The Halliwell Jones Stadium being a ‘template stadium’ having sport, health, education all working in partnership for the borough-wide community.”
He added: “The stadium site previously housed a brewery and in days gone by water was in fact sourced from underground for the brewing of the beer. The club now housing a 100 metre deep water borehole can provide constant water for the pitch, which in the summer months will be really beneficial to the playing surface.
“We, the club, are really grateful for the support from Warrington Business Venture, whom without their support the water borehole would not have been undertaken.”
