A man who pepper-sprayed two men following a road rage altercation about a car parking space at Lymm has been jailed.
Curtis Rogerson, of Chaise Meadow, Lymm, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, 4 June, where he was sentenced to 40 months in prison.
The 45-year-old had pleaded guilty to administering a noxious thing with intent to injure/aggrieve/annoy, possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid/gas, and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Rogerson’s sentence also includes two charges of intimidating a witness, committed in Trafford, which are unrelated to the Cheshire proceedings.
On 9 October 2025, at around 12.10 pm, the two male victims in this case had been in a van and were reversing into a parking space near Eagle Brow in Lymm village.
Rogerson then drove into the space first, despite the van already beginning to reverse into it. One of the victims shouted his annoyance.
The two men ultimately found another parking space and were still in their vehicle when Rogerson returned to his car. He pulled up next to the van and hit the wing mirror on the driver’s side.
The van window was open and without warning, Rogerson sprayed an unknown substance in the faces of the two victims and drove off.
Both men felt burning to their faces and were helped by passers-by.
The substance was tested and identified as Capsaicinoids, which are typically found in pepper sprays.
Following enquiries, Rogerson’s vehicle was identified and he was traced and arrested.
Detective Constable Kelsie Sherratt said:“Rogerson let a small annoyance over a car parking space spiral out of control, purposefully spraying a substance into the faces of the two victims with the intent of causing them harm.
“The victims were merely sat inside their vehicle, and this must have been terrifying to suddenly be in pain with no knowledge of what they had been sprayed with and if they would be left with any lasting damage.
“Thankfully, both made a full recovery and Rogerson was held accountable for his actions and is now facing time behind bars.”
