Labour Leader Coun Terry O'Neill said Labour's "tremendous achievements" are a mandate from the people for a minority administration at the town hall.
Lib Dem Leader Ian Marks, who was surprised by the strength of Labour support, says the existing joint administration with the Tories is "working really well for the people of Warrington," while Conservative Paul Kennedy, the agent of Warrington South's new Tory MP David Mowat, says Labour are now the largest party and should seek to form a minority administration.
He says the "disgraceful" General Election campaign by Lib Dem Jo Crotty now means it is no longer possible to have a shared administration at the town hall.
