SPECIALLY trained firefighters were on hand to rescue a dog which was struggling after falling in to the Manchester ship canal at Walton Locks.
Three fire engines attended – one from Warrington, one from Knutsford and one from Lymm – as did the Rope Rescue Unit from Lymm shortly after 2pm when firefighters were notified of a dog struggling in water in the Lulworth Place area of Warrington.
On arrival crews found the dog in the Manchester Ship Canal.
Specially trained firefighters went into the water on a raft whilst the Rope Rescue Unit set up equipment on the bank.
The dog was subsequently rescued from the side of the canal and their owner was contacted.
“Harry” the cockapoo was rescued from the water and handed back to his very relieved owner
Firefighters were in attendance for around 50 minutes.
