THREE Warrington-based site managers working for Bellway’s Manchester division have been rewarded for their dedication to building quality homes for their customers.
Lee Lister, Andrew Graham and Gavin James each received the prestigious accolade for their dedicated approach and continuous hard work on site at Narrowboat View in Lymm, Neptune in Croft and St Oswald’s Place in Winwick.
A total of seven site managers from the division, which is also based in Warrington, were announced as winners of the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Awards.
The awards, which are now in their 45th year, are among the most highly-prized in the housebuilding industry, with only 449 from 7,500 site managers inspected by the NHBC selected for the honour.
Judging for the awards is a rigorous process which encompasses every aspect of a site manager’s responsibilities, including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety. Spot checks are also carried out on the day-to-day running of the site.
The successful site managers will now go on to be judged in the next round of the competition – the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards – which will be announced in the autumn.
Commenting on his award win, Lee says: “It’s great to win the Pride in the Job award again. It’s my third time winning, yet it feels just as special every time. I have a very talented team behind me so that helps make this possible. Narrowboat View is a very popular development so the site is always busy, which can be a challenge. I’m just thrilled we’ve been able to meet the build program for sales and maintain Bellway’s exceptional quality.”
Andrew adds: “I’m shocked. It’s my first Pride in the Job award and I’m thrilled. A lot of consistent hard work goes into winning this award and there are always challenges to overcome, so it’s a wonderful achievement for myself and my team on site.”
Having won the Pride in the Job award a few times previously, Gavin says: “As a site manager this award is the one you always want to achieve. It’s what we work towards daily. St Oswald’s Place is a new site for Bellway so there was a lot to do in terms of land preparation before we even started build. I’m more than happy to have received this award!”
Tom Chadwick, Construction Director for Bellway Manchester, said: “Huge congratulations to our successful site managers who have won Pride in the Job Quality Awards this year.
“They have all shown absolute dedication to meeting the rigorous standards required by the NHBC judges and have also inspired their site teams to share the Pride in the Job ethos, which is vital to achieve this award.
“As a company we have targeted the Pride in the Job Awards as part of our strategic focus on quality, with best practice and expertise shared across the business.
“Lee, Andrew and Gavin have been part of helping to create a culture in which our construction teams consistently build homes they would be proud to call their own. We hope their continued commitment to excellence will enable them to achieve even greater success in the next stage of the competition.”
