LYMM residents are being urged to take part in the consultation on the Lymm Neighbourhood Plan, which will help shape planning decisions affecting the village up to 2039.
The consultation, being run by Warrington Borough Council, is open until 5pm on 1 September 2026, giving residents the chance to comment on proposals covering housing, green spaces, heritage, transport, the village centre, community facilities and the environment.
Cllr. Graham Gowland said:”Many residents will have heard about the Neighbourhood Plan but may be put off by the amount of information they are being asked to consider.
“The reality is that nobody needs to read every page. What matters is that people take the opportunity to look at the areas that are important to them and make their views known.”
The Plan has been prepared by Lymm Parish Council and, if approved, will become part of the planning framework used when future planning applications are considered in Lymm. It does not allocate any additional housing sites beyond those already included in the Warrington Local Plan, but it does set out policies that could influence how future development takes place and what areas should be protected.
Among the issues residents may wish to examine are:
The designation of Local Green Spaces and Protected Open Spaces.
Policies covering housing types, affordable housing and support for bungalows.
Village centre improvement proposals.
Walking, cycling and transport priorities.
Protection of wildlife habitats, heritage assets and important views across the parish.
Cllr Gowland added:”Residents care deeply about the future of Lymm. Whether you support the Plan, have concerns about particular policies, or believe stronger protections are needed for valued green spaces and community assets, this is the time to speak up.
“Once the consultation closes and the Plan moves to independent examination, opportunities to influence the document become far more limited.
“I would encourage everyone to spend a little time reviewing the proposals and submitting their comments before the deadline.”
Representations can be submitted directly to Warrington Borough Council during the consultation period, which runs from 21 July to 1 September 2026.
For most residents, the key sections are likely to be the policies on green spaces, housing and transport, rather than the numerous supporting reports and technical documents.
