Travellers “invade” property with £650,000 price tag

TRAVELLERS who moved into the grounds of an unoccupied house on the market with a £650,000 price tag at Lymm, appear to have moved on.

Nearby residents in Booths Lane were concerned when up to 20 travellers “invaded” the property with a number of vehicles and horses.
Police have been informed and have visited the site and it is understood bailiffs were engaged. According to nearby residents, the travellers caused noise problems for neighbours.
They say they are unsure if the house itself has been entered.
The house became unoccupied some time ago when the owner died. It was placed on the market by his family and was said to include 14-acres of land, stables and a stable yard.

Lymm Parish Cllr Kath Buckley – who is also a borough councillor – has visited the site after being contacted by residents.
She said: “I know the police have been informed but it would appear now that the travellers have vacated the site, although I understand some horses still remain.”
Cllr Ian Marks said: “I think the problem is that the travellers are on private land and it is the responsibility of the owner to take action to get them moved on.
“But as long as Warrington Borough Council has still not provided an official traveller site in the borough we are going to keep getting these problems.”
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “Police are aware of this incident however this is a civil dispute and we believe the owner of the property is taking legal action.
“With regards the noise nuisance that would be a local authority matter.”
